About Us
Calvary Chapel 1000 Hills is a non-denominational Christian Fellowship. We are an independent church but choose to affiliate with Calvary Chapel both nationally and internationally. We are an outreach ministry of Calvary Chapel Kommetjie, Cape Town.
We seek to emphasize the spiritual unity of all true believers in God through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. We give pre-eminence to the preaching of the gospel, to studying the Word of God, and to exalting the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Purpose & Mission
Our purpose and mission is to minister in three areas: To minister to God through worship (Col. 3:16; Rom.12:1), to minister to God’s people with the aim of building them up to maturity in the faith (Col. 1:28) and to equip and build up the body of Christ (Eph. 4:12-13), and to minister to the world through evangelism (Matt. 28:19) and mercy (Luke 6:35-36).
What We Believe...
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God and inerrant in the original writings.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, that He died in our place and through His shed blood we receive the forgiveness of sins, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father.
We believe in the personal, visible, and pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ to the earth. He will return with His saints and set up a kingdom of which there will be no end.
We believe that lost and sinful man must be saved from this condition, and that the only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live the Christian life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved; they that are saved unto a resurrection of life and they that are unsaved unto a resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Man's Need for Salvation:
We believe that all people are, by nature, separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord.
The Gifts and Ministry of the Holy Spirit:
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures, and that they are valid for today if they are exercised within the scriptural guidelines.
We as believers are to covet the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified.
We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless.
Our Worship:
We believe that the worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.
We believe that the worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.
We believe that the worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshipped.
We believe that the worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.
